Google is always looking to expand their Knowledge Graph results with more real-time data. The latest addition to the sidebar of Knowledge Graph data is some foods. The talk around the watercooler is that it’s only a few hundred foods that are listed, maybe a few thousand. Still some room to grow. We figured we’d give it a try. Below is a simple search that we made for “orange fruit.”
Sure enough, instant data. Wonder how Wikipedia feels about Knowledge Graph, as it seems that Wikipedia is the source for much of Google’s data within it. Some give Google kudos for delivering more instantanious results. Others condemn the search engine for “scraping” data from other sites and stopping visitors from clicking through to a website from a search result by instantly providing data instead.
