Google continues efforts to build up the diversity of their services, as well as reinforcing brand usage. This double-dip approach has its latest incarnation with “Conversational Search.” At a recent conference, Google announced this new feature which allows users to speak what they want to search for into their microphone. There’s been some variations of this feature in the past but, the latest version has talk-back capabilities.

A subset of this new enhancement is that you can ask subsequent questions. That means you can ask an initial question like, “what color is the sun.” After you receive your response you could then ask “how far from Earth is it” without actually having to re-mention “how far from Earth is the Sun?” Who knows, perhaps the ability to have a full conversation with Google is in the (relative) near future.
